Mumbai: In another shocking incident, a seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya district police informed. Notably, the accused was arrested within a few hours.
According to Ayodhya Superintendent of Police Shailesh Pandey, the girl went missing on Wednesday evening when she was playing hide and seek with her friends. At around 9.30 pm, his family members found him at a secluded place, not far from their home.
The SP said that they took him to the hospital after which a complaint was lodged with the police.
“We used local intelligence inputs and footage from CCTV cameras installed in the area to trace the accused,” he said.
He told that the accused Rajan Manjhi works as a labourer.
The accused found the minor girl alone and raped her by seducing her at a secluded place. The SP said that he later fled from the spot.
We have registered an FIR against him under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses) Act.
The girl has been admitted to a hospital in Lucknow, where her condition is said to be stable. The Ayodhya district administration has assured help to the family in getting his treatment.
