96 Women Illegally Engaged To Dance In Bars Rescued
Mumbai: 96 women who were engaged illegally to perform dances in 11 bars at Bhubaneshwar were rescued by police on Saturday. No permission was granted by the bars to women for dancing, said police.
“The women are from West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Mumbai, Punjab, Haryana and Odisha. They were released after verification of their identities,” said Bhubaneshwar Deputy commissioner- Anup Kumar.
11 bars in Laxmi Sagar and Cuttak Road areas were raided by police teams on Friday night and the women were rescued.
The bars may conduct dance programmes on special occasions, but with appropriate permission, said former excise superintendent Sudarshan Nayak.
