Our Allies Have Been Held As Hostage In Haryana By BJP: Ashok Gehlot

Mumbai: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday alleged that colleagues have been taken hostage in Haryana under BJP supervision, citing Congress MLAs of Sachin Pilot Camp.

“Some of our allies have been held as hostages in Haryana under the supervision of the BJP. Everyone knows that it is possible that they do not want to be there. They are our own allies,” ANI quoted Gehlot saying.

“Their telephone has been confiscated. Some are sick. They are calling us and asking us to evacuate them. The Center does not care. In Haryana, there is a BJP government. This is all conspiracy of BJP and its leaders like they had done in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and other states. Now, they want to do it in Rajasthan. People of Rajasthan are with us as well as MLAs,” he said.

“We want to go to the floor. Opposition parties were also demanding this. I spoke to him on the phone today and requested him again. We want to call the assembly session on Monday. We have a clear majority and we have no problem. But despite this they are worried,” he said.

“We will request the governor not to come under anyone’s pressure. He is in a constitutional post and has taken the oath. He should take a decision otherwise it will not be our responsibility if the people of the state come to encircle the Raj Bhavan.” Gehlot said.

As soon as differences between Sachin Pilot and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot came to the fore, Rajasthan was engulfed in a political crisis.

Later, Rajasthan Assembly Speaker CP Joshi sent disqualification notices to Pilot and 18 MLAs under the anti-defection law after Chief Whip’s application for disqualification.

Pilot and 18 MLAs have approached the Rajasthan High Court against the disqualification notice issued against them.

The Rajasthan High Court asked Speaker CP Joshi to adjourn the proceedings pending before him on the disqualification notices issued to Pilot and the 18 MLAs of his faction and deferred a decision on the matter till July 24.
