After 36,902 New COVID Cases Reported Maharashtra, Night Curfew Imposed In State From 28 March

Mumbai: In view of the increasing coronavirus cases in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced curfew across the state from the night of March 28 (Sunday) on Friday.

In an effort to remove the spike in COVID-19 cases, the CM of Maharashtra ordered strict implementation of the coronavirus protocol, which has been imposed. Thackeray said, “I do not wish to impose lockdown. But there seems a possibility of healthcare facilities falling short given the rise in the number of coronavirus patients.”

The shopping mall has been ordered to remain closed from 8 pm to 7 pm from 28 March.

The night curfew order was passed on the day Maharashtra reported 36,902 new coronavirus cases, the highest ever single day since the pandemic, to 26,37,735. The tally increased to 26,37,735. The health department said that 112 corona patients succumbed to the disease, taking the fatality count to 53,907.

Meanwhile, Mumbai today recorded a record increase of 5,513 new COVID infections, taking the total cases to 3,85,628.

The decision to impose curfew at night was taken after Thackeray chaired a meeting of all district collectors today to review the coronavirus situation in Maharashtra.

Maharashtra continues to report the highest daily new coronavirus cases. Six states, including Maharashtra, Punjab, Kerala, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat are reporting a surge in daily new infections.
