India Reports Over 62,000 New COVID-19 Cases, 60% Of Them From Maharashtra

Mumbai: A total of 62,258 new cases of coronavirus were detected in India in the last 24 hours, out of which 36,902, or 60%, came from Maharashtra.

The country’s COVID-19 tally has increased to 1,19,08,910, while the number of people suffering from the disease has increased to 1,12,95,023 after 30,386 recoveries in a single day.

The death toll due to the viral disease has climbed to 1,61,240 in the country with 291 more fatalities, the ministry’s data updated at 8 am showed.

Maharashtra is the most affected state due to COVID-19 with 2,82,451 active coronavirus cases in the state.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 11,64,915 samples were tested on 24 March. So far, a total of 5,81,09,773 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been given in the country.
