Agriculture Has Key Role In Making India $ 5 Trillion Economy: PM Modi

Modi also said that the government has started a vaccination program for cattle

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday that agriculture has an important role to play in achieving his goal of becoming a five trillion dollar economy and the government is focusing on creating a cash crop and export-centric farming system.

Addressing a gathering here after distributing Krishi Karman Awards, Modi said that the efforts of the Central Government have increased the production and export of spices in the country.

“The agricultural sector has an important role to play in making India a five trillion dollar economy. For this, our government is focusing on creating a cash crop and an export-centric farming system,” he said.

Modi went on saying that the production of spices has crossed 25 lakh tonnes and their exports have increased from Rs 15,000 crore to Rs 19,000 crore. He said that the government is not only solving the problems of the farmers but is working towards a better future for them.

“We have made such arrangements that farmers can sell their produce in any e-mandi across the country through the e-NAM network. We have also provided facilities for cold storage,” he said.

Modi also said that the government has started a vaccination program for cattle.

“We have started a vaccination program for cattle to ensure that they do not have to spend a lot of money. We have also started the PM Kusum (Prime Minister Kisan Uja Suraksha Evam Utthan) scheme so that farmers can also become energy-producing And sell it to the grid, ”he said.

The Prime Minister also talked about the efforts being made by the Center to address the special issues of farmers producing crops like coconut, cashew, rubber and coffee.
