All 33 Accused Held In Dombivli Gang Rape Case

Mumbai: With the arrest of two more persons, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Thane Police probing the alleged gang-rape case of a 15-year-old girl has nabbed all 33 accused.

The two accused, police added, were arrested late on Sunday and early on Monday from various locations in Thane.

“Both the accused were arrested from different locations in the district. All the 33 accused named in the first information report (FIR) have now been arrested and no new names have cropped up in the investigation so far,” Hindustan Times quoted senior police inspector Dadahari Chaure saying.

Chaure said that after the arrest of all the accused, now the priority of the police will be to file the charge sheet in the case. Out of the total accused, two minors were detained last week and sent to a juvenile home in Bhiwandi.

In her complaint on September 22, the victim alleged that it all started in January when a man with whom she was in a relationship threatened to leak her private videos and had physical relations with some of her friends and acquaintances. After this, all the accused raped the girl from Dombivli (East) at several places till September, officials familiar with the matter said.

The matter, however, came to light earlier this month when the survivor approached a relative over the prolonged sexual abuse.
