Told You So, He Isn’t A Stable Man: Amarinder As Sidhu Quits As Punjab Cong Chief

Mumbai: After Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned as Punjab Congress chief on Tuesday, ex-Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh took a dig at him, saying that the cricketer-turned-politician is “not a stable man” and “not fit” for the border state.

“I told you so…he is not a stable man and not fit for the border state of Punjab,” Singh tweeted without mentioning Sidhu, who was instrumental in the ouster of the former Punjab CM.

In a surprise development, just days after Singh was replaced as chief minister, Sidhu stepped down as the party’s state unit chief saying he “can never compromise on the future of Punjab”.

“The collapse of a man’s character stems from the compromise corner. I can never compromise on Punjab’s future and the agenda for the welfare of Punjab. Therefore, I hereby resign as the President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. I will continue to serve the Congress,” Sidhu wrote in a resignation letter to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, which he shared on social media.

Sidhu’s resignation, which comes months ahead of the assembly elections in Punjab, is being seen as a major setback for the Congress party, which recently replaced Amarinder Singh with Charanjit Singh Channi as the chief minister, to help the party’s state unit.
