Amethi EC Officer Postponed Rahul Gandhi’s Nomination Procedure To April 22

Mumbai: Ram Manohar Mishra, Amethi returning officer has ordered a delay in the scrutiny of nomination papers of Congress President Rahul Gandhi to April 22.

An allegation has been filed by an Independent candidate Dhruv Lal claiming variation in the candidature of Rahul Gandhi.

“We have faced 3 issues”, said, Ravi Prakash, who is lawyer said to ANI, news agency on Saturday.

Prakash claimed one of the issues as, “Basis Certificate of incorporation of a company in The United Kingdom as he had declared himself and citizen of UK”.

Under the Representation of People Act, he said, that a non-Indian is blocked for competing elections.

“On basis of what he came to a citizen of Britain and how did, he gained Citizenship of India now? We have urged the Returning officer to not accept Rahul Gandhi’s nomination papers until and unless there is clarity”, Prakash.

He further alleged Rahul as no details of his property in the UK is been mention on the affidavit of the year between 2003-2009.

The lawyer claimed that “He(Rahul) had used the name “Rahul Vinci” in his college and there is no name with Rahul Gandhi. There are Inclearity about his qualifications as well”.

He further added saying, “Is Rahul Gandhi and Rahul Vinci same person and if not then we demand original certificates”.

Rahul Gandhi is going to contest from 2 Lok Sabha constituencies, Amethi and Wayanad. On May 6, Amethi will go on voting.

Results will be declared on May 23.
