Mumbai; Jacques Kallis the coach of Kolkata Knight Riders feels that Andre Russell should bat up at the order as per if the situation demands.
His wordings came after the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday.
It is certainly not our main plain but if the situation demands and the captain and the management come up with. Like if we said, Andre Russell or someone else should come up as depending upon the situation, perhaps we need to try things a little differently,” Kallis said.
Russell has been in a power hitting tremendous form in this season with a strike rate of 217 with 392 runs and an average of 65.33.
“I think the players are frustrated at the current moment and need to get a break to start off fresh once again,” Kallis said.
“The most frustrating point is we’ve not taken wickets and if you don’t take wickets you’re under pressure for the whole innings then,” he added.
I think we’ve just taken 20-21 wickets in 10 games which have put us under tremendous pressure. So yeah, for us taking wickets in the upfront is the key to a better life at the middle and end periods,” he added.
Knight Riders stand sixth at the points table with 8 points.
KKR will play its next match against Rajasthan Royals on April 25 at Eden Gardens.
