Bangladeshi TikTok Star Among Those Held Over Bengaluru Gang-Rape Video
Mumbai: A Bangladeshi TikTok star is among six persons arrested over the video showing men gang-raping a Bangladeshi woman in Bengaluru.
Identified as Ridoy Babu the accused is famous as Hridoy Babu in Dhaka, Babu’s real name is Rifadul Islam and Ridoy Baby and Hriday Babu are his aliases.
Rifadul Islam, aged 25, and the other accused allegedly trafficked women from their country and ran prostitution rackets in India’s Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kozhikode.
Rifadul alias Babu used to shoot short videos and upload them on video-sharing platforms. He befriended women and took them to different places on the pretext of making videos. Babu was named the prime accused in the case.
Earlier, Babu and another accused Rakibul Islam Sagar were shot in the legs on Friday when they allegedly attacked the cops.
Babu is being treated in hospital and we’ll question him in detail to know his role in human trafficking and also in the rape case. ”
The police were taking the two men to Kanakanagar in Ramamurthynagar, off Old Madras Road, for a spot mahazar. Babu, Sagar, and the four other accused were nabbed on Thursday for allegedly assaulting and gang-raping a woman. All of the arrested accused hail from Bangladesh, The Times of India reported.
