Better To Be Agent Of PM Modi, Amit Shah Than Yakub Memon: Maha CM

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said it is better to be agents of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah than being an agent of 1993 Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon.

Tending to his allies, Shinde said, “Yakub Memon was a deceiver. He was hanged. His grave was celebrated. It occurred under whose system? Instead of being agent of Yakub Memon, being agent of Modi and Shah is better. They who took the philosophy of Balasaheb Thackeray ahead and furthermore rejected Article 370.”

Shinde’s sharp response came after Uddhav Thackeray-drove Shiv Sena pummeled the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) it was the “Sena which had borne the brunt of the 1993 sequential impacts and the present torchbearers of Hindutva were concealing in tunnels when mobs ended up guaranteeing that it”.

The BJP and the Thackeray-headed Sena are participated in a harsh conflict of words over the ’embellished’ grave of Yakub Memon. The saffron party has asserted that the grave was improved when Uddhav Thackeray was Maharashtra boss priest.

The Sena has completely dismissed the charges and said that it was pointlessly hauled into the debate.

“It was the Shiv Sena that bore the brunt of Mumbai riots and bomb blasts. At that time, today’s torchbearers of Hindutva were hiding in burrows. Those doing politics on Yakub Memon today were never part of that battle,” an editorial published in Saamana read.

The Sena editorial also took aim at 7Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis for not burying Memon’s body in Nagpur jail where he was executed.

Notably, Fadnavis was the Maharashtra chief minister when Memon was executed in July 2015.
