Bhagwant Mann To Take Oath As Punjab CM On March 16

Mumbai: Aam Aadmi Party leader Bhagwant Mann will take oath as the CM of Punjab on March 16. He has invited party President and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for the swearing-in ceremony.

The AAP recorded a thumping win in the 2022 Punjab election yesterday, claiming 92 of the Assembly’s 117 seats.

The ruling Congress won just 18 seats – 77 fewer than the 2017 election race. Won from Mann Dhuri constituency; He defeated Dalveer Singh Goldie of INC by over 60,000 votes.

The victory means AAP will form its first government outside Delhi and underscores its ambition to emerge as a national political force before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Earlier today, Mann met AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal at the Delhi Chief Minister’s residence. A video shared by ANI shows the duo and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia giving a warm hug and exchanging big smiles. He fell at the feet of Kejriwal to seek Mann’s blessings.

Mann has already announced his swearing-in ceremony – at Khatkarkalan in Nawanshahr district, the native village of great freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.

“I will take oath as the chief minister in Bhagat Singh’s village Khatkarkalan, not at the Raj Bhawan,” he said yesterday as he addressed party workers and supporters after his win.

The Congress’s Charanjit Channi has submitted his resignation as Punjab chief minister but he will stay on in that post till Mann is sworn in.
