The Assam Accord, an agreement was signed in 1985 between the then Rajiv Gandhi government and the All Assam Students Union, ending a six-year mass movement against accused migrants from Bangladesh for illegal settling.

Banerjee said, “The BJP should be ashamed for causing panic over NRC in Bengal, it killed six people. Trust me, I will never allow this practice in Bengal.”
