Can Vaccinate Entire Delhi In 3 Months If Vaccination Allowed For All Above 18: CM

Mumbai: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday appealed to the Centre to allow COVID-19 vaccination for everyone aged 18 and above.

“Instead of making a list of people who are eligible, we should make a list of people who’re not eligible,” he stated.

“If Centre allows that and if we get sufficient vaccine supply, we can vaccinate entire Delhi within three months,” said Kejriwal.

“I appeal to the Centre that their current guideline for vaccination centres is very stringent. We now have 2 months of experience in vaccination. So we’re writing to the Centre to relax some parameters so that vaccination can be done at more centres. We will take all precautions,” said Kejriwal.

The Chief Minister of Delhi also appealed to the people to get vaccinated according to the mandatory guidelines of the government, so that they can get vaccinated without hesitation. He also assured that his government will double the capacity in the coming few days.

“Vaccination is being done at about 500 centres in Delhi, it will be doubled to 1000,” he said.

Kejriwal said, “So far, 30,000-40,000 vaccines are being applied per day. We will increase this to 1.25 lakh vaccines per day.”

The Delhi government also extended the vaccination time to four hours. Kejriwal announced, “Vaccination is being done from 9 am to 5 pm, especially in government centres. Now hours are being extended from 9 am to 9 pm so that more and more people can be vaccinated.”

This comes when the national capital daily Kovid-19 is seeing an increase in cases. On Wednesday, Delhi added more than 500 cases, pushing the city’s tally to 644,489. The total toll rose to 10,945 with the death of one in the last 24 hours.
