Celebrate Diwali On Ram Temple Inauguration Day: Maha CM To BMC

Mumbai: Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde asked the BMC Commissioner to put up decorative lights on temples and buildings and “celebrate Diwali” on January 22, the day of consecration ceremony of Lord Ram temple in Ayodhya.

He said, “PM Narendra Modi made the dream (of building the Ram temple) a reality. What PM Modi says, he ensures to make it a reality.”

At a Mumbai cleanliness campaign, Chief Minister Shinde declared, “January 22 will mark the official opening of the Ram temple. I would want to request that the commissioner of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) allow Diwali celebrations all around Mumbai. Let every temple and building in Mumbai have a plethora of ornamental lighting.”

“All parts of Maharashtra should celebrate on January 22 with Diwali-like enthusiasm,” the CM told reporters while responding to a question.

Ram temple was a dream of late Balasaheb Thackeray, asserted CM Shinde

The chief minister claimed that countless Lord Ram followers and the late Balasaheb Thackeray, the founder of the Shiv Sena, had dreamed of building the Ram temple.

“The dream of erecting the Ram temple was realized by Modiji. When Prime Minister Modi says anything, he makes sure it happens. He keeps his word when it comes to the railroads and airports. “Everyone acknowledges Modi’s assurances,” Shinde declared.

He expressed his gratitude to PM Modi for realizing the aspiration of millions of Indians and fulfilling Balasaheb Thackeray’s desire for a Ram temple in Ayodhya. According to Shinde, PM Modi’s assurance is the only one that is currently valid in the nation. He went on to say that the outcomes of the most recent assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh have demonstrated this.

Cleaning initiatives were launched at several places in Mumbai

As part of the government’s continuous effort to reduce air pollution and make the state capital clean, extensive cleaning projects were carried out at ten locations in Mumbai on Sunday. Shinde discussed the significance of this kind of effort in Mumbai as well as other regions of the state. “We use recycled water for deep cleaning. We have not used drinking water for this purpose,” he told reporters.

According to the CM, efforts have been made to clean public restrooms, major and minor roads, beaches, and other locations, with participation from the public, NGOs, and schools.

“We must spread this campaign for cleaning throughout the entire state. This cleanliness campaign will be carried out by small towns, councils, and all municipal corporations. Various self-governing entities will hold competitions,” he stated.

Shinde said his government is also encouraging road repairs as part of this drive. If there are some empty plots, concept like an urban forest can be implemented there, he said.

“When Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a broom in his hand (as part of a cleanliness drive), people criticised it as a photo-op. But what he started in 2015, people have realised the importance of it now,” the CM said.
