Sources said that the heads of the state Congress Committee of Congress-ruled states were present, including Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot. Chhattisgarh Congress chief Mohan Markam was the only PCC chief in these states who was not present due to the upcoming by-election in Dantewada.

In a meeting of party general secretaries, in-charge, PCC chiefs and CLP leaders on Thursday, Gandhi had said, “Let me also say that we hold a special responsibility in the states where we are in power – Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh And Puducherry. ”

“These states should stand as examples of sensitive and accountable governance, accountable and transparent governance,” she said.

Congress is keen to reverse its fate in more states after receiving the worst drubbing in recent general elections.

Sonia Gandhi, who took over the reins of the party after son Rahul Gandhi stepped down as head, has taken up the challenge of undertaking this difficult task of bringing the Congress back to power.
