Mumbai: The coronavirus figures in India have spiked over forty thousand as the country records the highest jump of 2,553 cases and 72 deaths in the past 24 hours.
About 1,373 people died of Covid-19 in the country and the tally has risen to 42,533, including 29,543 total active cases, and 11,707 recoveries, according to the latest figures of Union Health Ministry.
The major outbreak is still observed from three most-hit states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Delhi.
The figure comes after the second extension of the lockdown imposed all over the country with considerable relaxation in ‘Orange Zones’ and ‘Green Zones’.
Although, the striving efforts of the country have made possible the return of migrants/students stranded in other states to their homes.
