Coronavirus Pandemic Is Not Over Follow COVID Protocols: MoHFW

He also reiterated that guidelines on vaccination of pregnant women have already been issued and it is very important that they be vaccinated

Mumbai: The central government on Friday expressed concern over the large number of people traveling to hill stations and violating the COVID protocol. The government also emphasized that the COVID pandemic is not over in the country and everyone should continue to follow COVID-appropriate behavior.

During a press briefing, the Union Health Ministry said that we need to take all precautions and cited the examples of Bangladesh, Russia, and the United Kingdom where again there has been a sharp rise in COVID-19 cases.

“We are still dealing with the second wave of COVID19. We need to continue to demonstrate COVID19 appropriate behavior,” it added.

NITI Aayog, Member-Health, Dr. VK Paul insisted, “We cannot lower our guard. A new threat is being seen at tourist places where overcrowding, social distancing, and mask protocols are being followed. is not being followed. This is a serious matter. cause for concern.”

Talking about the ‘lambda’ version of the COVID-19 virus that has already been identified in around 30 countries, Dr. VK Paul said, “The lambda version of the coronavirus is of interest. We should be wary of such variants. As of now, There is no evidence that such identification has been done in India.”

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry also announced that the daily new cases in the country continued to decline. He said the average daily new cases have declined by 8 per cent in the last week, while 80 per cent new cases have been reported from 90 districts.

“There has been a rise in recoveries in the country. The recovery rate is at 97.2 per cent today,” it said.
