COVID-19: BCCI Clears Dues Of Centrally Contracted Players

Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday cleared the dues of all its contracted players within the board.

Due to the ongoing situation related to the coronavirus epidemic, England players have opted for salary cuts, while it is very likely that Australian players will opt for the same.

However, the BCCI has taken swift action and has decided not to let the players lose in these times.

ANI quoted BCCI saying, “Yes, we have cleared the dues for contracted players till March 31, 2020, all the quarterly instalments of centrally contracted players have been cleared”.

“Also, the match fees of all the players (both India and India A) during this period have also been cleared at the end of the financial year,” the source added.

In March this year, the BCCI decided to postpone the IPL to 15 April due to the coronovirus epidemic.

If the IPL is cancelled, the board will incur heavy financial losses.

The ODI series between India and South Africa was also postponed due to COVID-19.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Friday that India’s coronovirus cases had increased to 6,412.
