COVID-19: Pakistan Extends Lockdown By Two Weeks

Mumbai: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced the expansion of nationwide lockout with relaxation in some areas.

Addressing the media in Islamabad on Tuesday, Khan said, “We took the drastic decision of lockdown in the country, which was implemented very well due to people’s cooperation.”

The Prime Minister said ventilators, protective clothing, and other gear “have been reaching the country to meet the demand”.

Imran Khan today announced the opening of the construction industry in cities as it is the lowest risk factor in the spread of coronavirus.

Last month, Pakistan implemented a nationwide lockout to prevent the spread of coronovirus. Later, a two-week extension in sanctions was announced by 14 April.

Health officials said on Tuesday that 5983 cases of coronovirus have been confirmed in Pakistan so far and the death toll in the country has risen to 107.
