Pure Evil Unleashed On This World: US President Biden On Hamas Attack On Israel

Mumbai: On Tuesday, US  President Joe Biden denounced the Hamas strike on Israel as a “unadulterated evil unleashed on the world” and noted that the avowed goals of the Palestinian militant group are to destroy the state of Israel and kill Jews.

On Saturday, while Tel Aviv was pounding Gaza, Hamas launched a series of unexpected strikes on southern and central Israel, killing hundreds of people and escaping with a large number of hostages. The escalations have so far resulted in the deaths of more than 1,600 Israelis and Palestinians.

“There are times in life when pure, unadulterated evil is unleashed on this globe, and I mean this in the most literal sense. This past weekend, the Israeli people experienced one such occasion. In his address to the country from the White House, Biden referred to the bleeding hands of Hamas, a terrorist group whose stated goal is to kill Jews.

He also acknowledged that the incident resulted in the deaths of at least 14 Americans.

“This was a blatantly horrible deed. In Israel, more than 1,000 civilians were massacred—not just dead, but murdered. At least 14 of them were Americans who were slain. Parents who attempted to shield their children with their bodies were butchered. Reports of newborns being killed are horrifying. Whole families were killed. “Young people were murdered while taking part in a peace music festival,” he stated.

The US president has previously stated that Israel will have the “rock solid and unwavering” backing of his administration. In order to back Israel and take appropriate measures against the Palestinian militant group Hamas, the United States has undertaken a significant international diplomatic campaign.

According to Biden, the US has also strengthened its military presence in the area.

“This attack has brought to the surface painful memories and the scars left by millennia of antisemitism and genocide of the Jewish people. So, at this moment, we must be crystal clear. We stand with Israel. We stand with Israel. And we will make sure Israel has what it needs to take care of its citizens, defend itself, and respond to this attack. There is no justification for terrorism. There is no excuse,” the US president said.

“This act has rekindled bitter memories and the wounds from centuries of antisemitism and the extermination of the Jewish people. Therefore, we must be absolutely explicit at this time. We support Israel. We support Israel. And we’ll see to it that Israel has everything it requires to look after its population, defend itself, and react to this aggression. Terrorism is not justified in any way. There is no justification, the US president declared.

According to Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken, he will visit Israel and Jordan from October 11 to October 13 and meet with top officials there.

“The Secretary will express his sympathies once more for the victims of the terrorist assaults against Israel and strongly denounce those attacks. The Secretary will also reiterate American support for the Israeli government and people. He will also talk about ways to strengthen Israel’s security and stress how strongly the United States supports Israel’s right to self-defense,” according to the State Department.

Blinken discussed the US’ consistent support for Israel’s right to self-defense with Israeli President Isaac Herzog. He expressed his sympathies once more for everyone who was murdered, hurt, or still missing.

The right to dignity and self-determination of the Palestinian people is not supported by Hamas, according to Biden’s speech. He added that it uses Palestinian civilians as human shields and that its proclaimed goals are the destruction of the state of Israel and the death of Jews.

“Hamas offers nothing but terror and bloodshed with no regard to who pays the price. The loss of innocent life is heartbreaking. Like every nation in the world, Israel has the right to respond,” Biden said.

Biden also added that he spoke with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the third time since Hamas’ attack. “I told him if the United States experienced what Israel is experiencing, our response would be swift, decisive, and overwhelming,” he said.
