COVID-19 Successfully Contained, No New Cases In Fifth Of India: Harsh Vardhan

Mumbai: Noting that less than 12,000 new coronavirus cases were reported on Thursday, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said, “India has successfully contained the pandemic.”

No new cases were reported in its fifth district for a week, even with 2.4 million people involved in its vaccination campaign.

The country of 1.35 billion has the highest number of cases in the world after the United States, although the rate of infection has decreased significantly since mid-September. Some studies have suggested that India’s pockets have acquired herd immunity through natural infection.

Health Minister Harshvardhan said, “India has successfully absorbed the epidemic, noting that less than 12,000 cases have been reported in the last 24 hours.

He said that out of 718 districts in India, there is no new case for one week in 146 and two weeks in 18 districts.

Vardhan said, “India has flattened its COVID-19 graph.”

With the fall of the transition, the government said here that from February 1, it would curb the use of public swimming pools, allow cinema halls and theatres to have seats of more than 50% capacity and allow all types of exhibition halls to operate.

The world’s second-most populous country began its COVID-19 vaccination program on 16 January, with the goal of reaching 300 million people by July-August.

India has so far reported 10.7 million infections and 153,847 deaths – one of the world’s lowest fatality rates from the disease, attributed partly to its younger population.
