COVID-19: US Records 1514 New Deaths In Last 24 hours, Toll Climbs To 22,020

Mumbai: Deaths due to Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 in the United States reached 22,020 on Monday morning, with 1,514 new deaths in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the total number of fatal virus-positive cases confirmed by Johns Hopkins University is over 550,00.

The number of new coronovirus-related deaths has declined in the US for the second consecutive day. After breaking the single-day record of coronovirus deaths with 2,108 casualties, the next day saw a slight drop in mortality as 1,920 fresh deaths were recorded.

According to the Center for System Science and Engineering (CSSE), New York State has recorded 189,020 cases, the highest in the country, with 9,085 deaths. There have been 61,850 cases and 2,350 deaths in New Jersey. Michigan, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, California, Illinois and Louisiana each reported more than 20,000 cases.

Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 1.84 million while the death toll is currently 114,101. According to Johns Hopkins University, the United States is the most affected country in the world in terms of both infections and deaths.

The US leads the chart of worst-affected nations with 555,398 positive cases and 22,020 deaths. As per Johns Hopkins University, some 2.8 million people have been tested so far for coronavirus in the country.
