CSK Will Continue To Back Ruturaj Gaikwad: Ravindra Jadeja

Mumbai: CSK captain Ravindra Jadeja has said they’ll continue to back Ruturaj Gaikwad in their upcoming games in the IPL season.

After being dismissed for 0 and 1 in his first two matches in IPL 2022, Gaikwad was dismissed for 1 in the game against Punjab Kings on Sunday.

For Punjab Kings, Liam Livingstone scored 60 runs with the bat and took two wickets with the ball in their 54-run victory over Chennai Super Kings at the Brabourne Stadium here. CSK lost the third match in a row.

Talking about the game, Ravindra Jadeja said in the post-match presentation: “We lost a lot of wickets in the powerplay, we didn’t find the momentum from ball one. We need to find a way to get better and come back stronger.”

On Gaikwad, the CSK captain said: “We need to give him confidence, we need to support him, we all know he is a very good player. We will definitely support him and I am sure he is good.”

Shivam Dubey was the only CSK batsman to hit the ball cleanly in the game against Punjab as the left-hander hit six fours and three sixes. He shared a crucial half-century partnership with MS Dhoni for the sixth wicket and soon completed his 50 runs in just 26 balls. Livingstone dismissed Dube for 57.

“He (Dube) has been batting so well, he batted well today, keeping him in a good frame of mind would be the key. Definitely, we’ll try our best, work hard and come back stronger,” Jadeja said.

Chennai will next clash with SunRisers Hyderabad on April 9 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai.
