Cyclone Tauktae: 3 Dead In Gujarat; CM Rupani Holds Meeting To Review Situation

Mumbai: Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani today informed that three people have lost their lives in the state due to extremely severe cyclone Tauktae.

“Three people have lost their lives due to cyclone Tauktae. Around 40,000 trees have fallen and 16,500 huts have affected in the state due to the cyclone,” said the Chief Minister in a meeting.

Around 40,000 trees have fallen and 16,500 huts affected in the state, he said. Now, the cyclone has weakened from extremely severe to very severe cyclonic storm. It will further weaken in about two hours.

Taking to Twitter, IMD said, “The VSCS (very severe cyclonic storm) ‘Tauktae’ lay entred at 0330 Hrs IST of 18th May over Saurashtra, near lat. 21.35°N and long. 71.20°E, about 80 KM north-northeast of Diu and 25 KM South of Amreli. The cyclone continues to show a weakening trend. The eye is disorganising, wall cloud is weakening.”

It further said that Tauktae has played centre at 09:30 am over Saurashtra, near latitude 21.65 degrees north and longitude 71.35 degrees east, about 205 kilometres southwest of Ahmedabad, 125 kilometres south-southwest of Surendranagar.
