Delhi Makes Face Masks Mandatory Again, ₹500 Fine For Violators

Mumbai: The Delhi Disaster Management Authority in its meeting on Wednesday decided that COVID-19 masks will once again be mandatory in New Delhi with a fine of Rs 500 for violation. The decision comes as the number of daily COVID-19 cases rises again in the national capital.

The physical class will continue in schools, and the authority has taken the decision, but for better management, SOP will have to be issued. There will be no restriction on social gatherings, but all types of gatherings will be strictly monitored.

On Tuesday, Delhi recorded 632 fresh Covid-19 cases with a positivity rate of 4.42%. On Monday, the daily tally stood at 501, while the positivity rate stood at 7.72%.

Between April 11 and 18, Delhi saw an almost three-fold increase in the number of daily COVID cases, raising the situation as a matter of concern at a time when Delhi, like many other states, lifted the mask mandate. gave.

Doctors were divided on the decision to lift the mask mandate as they were of the opinion that vulnerable groups of people should never shy away from masks.

The penalty comes back after Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia assured on Tuesday that the government was not planning to roll back the fine for not wearing a mask in public.
