Deora Has Written To Pol Body Expressing The Possibility Of Interference With EVM In Mumbai

Mumbai: Two days before the Lok Sabha election, Mumbai Congress President Milind Deora has written a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer of Maharashtra expressing the possibility of “tampering EVMs” at different centres of the city.

Deora, who is contesting from the Mumbai South seat, alleged that he received a “very shocking” response to such a possibility.

Deora said, “Our Congress workers who are continuously monitoring these centres from outside, have informed us about suspicious movements of some persons and/or vehicles around these centres.”

Such examples create serious doubts and fears about the safety and security of electronic voting machines (EVMs).

Deora requested Chief Electoral Officer to increase vigilance and security at these counting centres so that in any way to prevent tampering with EVM units.

He also requested that the volunteers of Congress should be allowed to remain “safe” to the EVMs outside these centres, as well as security officials,  are already deployed there.

Deora also demanded that the CCTV cameras installed on these centres be provided to the Congress party so as to keep an eye on the dynamics of these centres round the clock.
