Digital Rupee To Be Issued By The RBI Starting 2022-23: Nirmala Sitharaman
Mumbai: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, during the presentation of her Union Budget 2022-23, proposed the introduction of a digital rupee using blockchain and other technologies. “Digital rupee to be issued using blockchain and other technologies; to be issued by RBI starting 2022-23. This will give a big boost to the economy,” she said.

Earlier the Union Cabinet had approved the Budget for 2022-23 presented in Parliament by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Earlier today, Sitharaman met President Ram Nath Kovind ahead of presenting the budget.
She was accompanied by the Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Choudhary, Bhagwat Karad and other officials of the ministry. In place of his signature ‘Bahi Khata’, amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, she opted to carry the documents in a tablet, draped in a red-coloured cover with the national emblem on it.
