“Disrespecting Women Is Not In Our Civilization,” Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu Over Khan’s Sexiest Remarks

Mumbai: Reacting to SP leader Azam Khan’s sexiest comment over Lok Sabha speaker  Rama Devi, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday said that disrespecting women is not in our civilisation.

Addressing a gathering after giving the ‘Democracy Award’ by the State Election Commission, Naidu said, “Disrespect for women is not in our parliament. Such behavior and comments in Parliament and other Legislative Assemblies harm our parliamentary democracy. And this should be avoided.”

“The country witnessed a couple of days back a member of the Lok Sabha making some objectionable comments about a woman presiding officer, who was in the chair.

Members of the House have rightly voiced outrage over the comments of that Member,” added Naidu.

Azam Khan had allegedly made an objectionable comment against Ram Devi on Thursday, who was presiding the proceedings of the Lok Sabha at that time which was debating a bill for the criminalization of Triple Talaq

Naidu’s remark came a day after, the members demanded strict action against Khan, cutting down party lines, many of whom demanded “exemplary action” against him.
