New Form Of COVID-19 In Singapore May Come As 3rd Wave In India: Arvind Kejriwal

Mumbai: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday warned of a new type of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) found in Singapore and said it could result in India’s third wave.

Kejriwal said the virus is extremely dangerous for children and asked the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to immediately stop air services with Singapore and prioritize child immunization campaign.

“The new form of Corona that came to Singapore is being said to be extremely dangerous for children, in India it may come as a third wave. My appeal to the central government are air services with Singapore to be cancelled with immediate effect and prioritise the options for vaccinating children at the earliest,” the Delhi chief minister tweeted.

South Asian countries such as Singapore and Taiwan, which have been praised as success stories in the COVID-19, are both increasingly imposing aggressive bans at home – and tightening travel between each other.

In Singapore, indoor dining is banned in restaurants and working from home will now be the default, as the city-state ordered measures such as lockdown again a year ago. Seven schools will turn home-based education into a “ring-fence”, which is affected by the infection, as city-states plan to vaccinate people under 16 years of age.

Authorities have urged Singapore residents to wear masks and avoid activities that require “putting down masks”, such as eating with others for the “next 3-6 weeks”.

According to the Ministry of Health, Singapore’s latest sanctions announced on 14 May will remain in effect for a month until 13 June. The country added 38 new local cases on Sunday, 18 of which are not currently associated with known groups.
