ENG Vs NZ: England Beats New Zealand By Seven Wickets In First T20

Mumbai: One of the most fascinating T20 series of this year went underway today. T20 series between England and New Zeland commenced today.

England captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and elected to bowl first. He didn’t have to wait too long for the first wicket as Sam Curran got Guptill in his second over. Ross Taylor’s 44 from 35 was the innings that gave New Zealand some hope as at the end of 20th over New Zealand’s score was 153/5.

Although the target was not big after first two overs from Southee and Ferguson just conceded 2 runs. David Malan failed to grab the opportunity as he was dismissed by Mitchel Santner for 11 off 13 balls.

Though England hung in there and took the chances against bad balls and the specially targeted Scott Kuggeleijn. While the run rate was going up, James Vince who was given the opportunity to bat at 3 made the perfect use of this opportunity as he scored 59 off 38 balls which included 2 sixes and 7 fours. Finishing touches were given by captain Morgan.

James Vince was the Man Of The Match for scoring maiden T20I 50 and getting England out of that uncomfortable zone and shutting the doors for New Zealand bowlers to make any type of comeback.

Though Mitchell Santner bowled beautifully, as he took all three wickets, but in the end, England batsman was too good. England made 154/3 they won by 7 wickets and 9 balls to spare.

New Zealand: 153/5: Ross Taylor 44(35), Chris Jordan 2-28, Tim Seifert 32(26), Adil Rashid 1-21.

England: 154/3, James Vince 59(38), Mitchell Santner 3-23, Jhonny Bairstow 35(28), Lockie Ferguson 0-28.
