Exit Polls Forecast Big Win For BJP In Maha, Haryana

Mumbai: Hours after Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly Election ended, the exit polls have declared that BJP is all set to retain its power in both the state.

The polls, which aired soon after the close of voting, varied widely in their projection of seats for the rival coalition, but a strong victory was a common theme for the BJP-led NDA in Maharashtra and Haryana with more than two-thirds of the seats.

The exit poll of News18-IPSOS gave the BJP a majority, estimating the party at 142 seats and 102 seats for its ally Shiv Sena. The Congress and NCP will only get 17 and 22 seats, it is predicted.

India Today-Axis exit poll estimates 166-194 seats for BJP-Shiv Sena and 72-90 seats for Congress-NCP alliance in 288-member Maharashtra Assembly.

The ABP-C voter predicted 204 seats for BJP-Shiv Sena and 69 seats for Congress-NCP.

In Haryana, the extent of BJP’s victory was projected to be even more effective.

The ABP-C voter estimates 72 and eight seats for BJP and Congress respectively. CNN-IPSOS estimated 75 and 10 seats for the two parties respectively.

The elections by the NDA gave the BJP and Congress 66 and 14 seats in Haryana respectively, and the saffron alliance and Congress-NCP in Maharashtra 211 and 64 seats.
