Facebook Removes 687 Accounts, Pages Linked To Congress For It’s Authentic Behaviour

Mumbai: Facebook recently announced that it will remove 687 pages related to the Congress party and “to coordinate inhuman treatment”, which will start for voting just two weeks before voting.

“We removed 687 Facebook pages and accounts-the majority of which had already been detected and suspended by our automated systems that engaged in coordinated inauthentic behaviour in India and were linked to individuals associated with an IT cell of the Indian National Congress (INC),” Nathaniel Gleicher Head of Cybersecurity Policy at Facebook said in statement.

Nathaniel also stated that the steps have taken on the basis of their behaviour and not their content.

It is also been reported that Facebook has investigated which resulted that individuals using fake accounts to spread content, criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his party BJP.

“While the people behind this activity attempted to conceal their identities our review found that it was connected to individuals associated with an INC IT cell,” the statement stated.

“We removed 15 Facebook Pages and Groups and accounts that engaged in coordinated inauthentic behaviour in India and were linked to individuals associated with Indian IT firm, Silver touch,” it added.
