Gautam Gambhir Steps Down From Delhi’s Ranji Captaincy

Mumbai : At recent time 2018-19 Ranji Trophy has took its pace the 85th season of the Ranji Trophy, the premier first-class cricket tournament that is currently taking place in India between November 2018 and February 2019. Meantime Gautan Gambhir has decided to step down from the Delhi’s Ranji side captaincy and has told the team management to pick a younger player for the job, an official said to PTI on Monday.

“Gautam has intimated state team’s chief selector Amit Bhandari that he would like to opt out of captaincy. He has suggested that someone younger be groomed for the job,” a senior office-bearer of the Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) told to PTI.

Delhi will play its first match on 12th November at Feroz Shah Kotla the squad has not announced till know.

At the start of the season Gambhir was elected as a captain and and led Delhi to the Vijay Hazare finals and scored close to 500 runs in the National One-Dayers.

Gautam decision is also a sign that he might not continue playing competitive cricket for a very long time.

In 2018 IPL Gautan made his come back to Delhi Daredevil’s but it has turned towards an flop tournament for him,  and stepped down from captaincy and also didn’t take part after the first six games of the cash-rich league.

Of late, Gambhir has been active on social media on various issues ranging from politics to cricket.
