Government With Overwhelming Majority Thinks It Can Do Anything: Pranab Mukherjee
Mumbai: Former President Pranab Mukherjee cautioned against the major rule, saying the government with an overwhelming majority thinks it can do anything, but it should not happen.
“Whenever a government has behaved to the contrary, the voter has punished the incumbent in the elections that we follow. We think we can do anything and we can do everything when we have in the legislature There is an overwhelming majority. However, it should not happen,” Mukherjee said on Monday
Mukherjee also accelerated the Modi government’s plan to increase the number of seats in the Lok Sabha through delimitation.
Mukherjee said that the increased seats in the Lok Sabha should be increased to 1,000 and the Rajya Sabha seats should also be increased.
The former President was delivering the second Atal Bihari Memorial Lecture organized by the India Foundation in the national capital.
