Gujarat: Clash Between ABVP, NSUI Workers In Ahmedabad, 10 Injured

Mumbai: In the shocking incident, members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and its rival Rashtriya Students’ Union, clashed here on Tuesday in protest against the JNU violence, injuring more than 10 people.

The incident occurred during a protest organized by the Congress student organization NSUI outside the ABVP’s office linked to the RSS in the Paldi area of ​​the city.

An official said that police later reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The two student bodies alleged that sticks and stones were used to attack each other, and claimed that more than five members of both sides were injured in the clash.

Gujarat NSUI general secretary Nikhil Savani suffered serious head injuries and was admitted to the VS General Hospital here, a member of the Congress students said.

In a video clip broadcast by some local news channels, Sawani, a close aide of Congress leader Hardik Patel, was beaten by some in the presence of policemen.

A police officer said, “The situation has been brought under control. At present, no FIR has been filed.”

Violence erupted when members of the NSUI arrived outside the ABVP office in protest against the attack on students and teachers at Delhi’s JNU on Sunday.

However, the ABVP alleged that NSUI members came to his office with the intention of attacking the activists.
ABVP member Naresh Desai said, “NSUI members came to our office waving their flags. They then removed the flags and used its wooden sticks to attack our members.”

Just as the ABVP members were attacked in JNU, anti-social elements of NSUI attacked us in a pre-planned manner, alleging that more than five of their members were also injured in the incident.
