I Sell Vegetables To Make Living, My Son Has Made Me Proud: SRH’s Umran Malik’s Father

Mumbai: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) pacer Umran Malik has impressed the cricketing world with his consistency at a speed of over 150 kmph in this IPL year and has made batsmen uncomfortable with the ball in hand.

The father of the 21-year-old pacer, Abdul Malik has revealed that his son was interested in cricket from the age of three. Abdul added that the whole family was happy and glued to the television sets when Malik was picked in the SRH playing XI.

Adding that Umran Malik has worked hard, Abdul revealed that he wants his son to play for the Indian cricket team.

“My son got inclined to cricket when he was just 3 years old. He always dreamt of becoming a professional cricketer. We were so happy when he was picked up in the playing XI by Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday. We were glued to the TV and there were tears of joy in my and my wife’s eyes. My son has worked very hard. We always supported him. We hope that one day he plays for Team India,” said Abdul in a chat with India Today.

Abdul Malik said that his son hails from a poor family, and he was extremely happy as even the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, congratulated Malik on his achievement. This is not an ordinary achievement for us, Abdul added.

“It is not an ordinary achievement for us. We are from a poor family. I sell vegetables and fruits to make a living. My son has made me proud. Our joy knows no bounds. Even Lt Governor Sahib has congratulated us. I pray to Almighty that my son continues to excel in his career,” concluded Abdul Malik.

Umran Malik will next be seen in action on the cricket field when the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) side clashes against the Mumbai Indians (MI) outfit in its final league match of IPL 2021 on 8th October to be held in Abu Dhabi.
