ICC World Cup 2019: New Zeland Defeats Sri Lanka By 10 Wickets

Mumbai: New Zealand and Sri Lanka have been very popular in recent years and now they meet again, but this time the intensity of expectation has increased – this is ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019.

Winning the toss New Zealand decided to bowl first, New Zealand captain Ken Williamson says that the wicket is green and we want to use it first.

Sri Lankan captain Dimut Karunaratne says, “We do not have much pressure on anyone to expect us to do well, but we want to show to the Sri Lankan team.

Batting first Sri Lanka faced trouble in the start of the innings itself as they lost Thiramanne in first over itself due to which they got a slow start. Moving ahead Sri Lanka was continuously started losing wicket middle order completely collapsed. The one who stood till the end was the captain who tried to help the team to score 30/40 runs more as they were losing wickets on the other side.

Karunaratne scored 52 off 84 balls. It was poor batting performance by Sri Lanka but brilliant bowling performance by New Zealand.

Matt Henry took 3 wickets in his 7 over spell, whereas Lockle Ferguson provides 3 wickets. Srilanka managed to score only 136 runs in 29 overs.

Chasing small total New Zealand was in full rush to finish the match 70 runs in first 10 over itself without losing any wickets.

Both the openers Martin Guptill and Colin Munro were batting with 100 + strike rate. Due to which New Zealand won the match without losing any wickets.

An absolute thrashing for Sri Lanka at the hands of New Zealand who have been superb with bat and ball. Munro hits the winning runs with a single into the legside. He finishes on 57* and Guptill finishes on 73*. Matt Henry set the tone with three early wickets and he was excellently supported by Lockie Ferguson who also took three wickets.
