If Mumbai’s Positivity Rate Crosses 5%, We’ll Have To Think Of Imposing Curbs: Rajesh Tope

Mumbai: Mumbai’s COVID-19 positivity rate is at 4% and if it goes above 5% then the Maharashtra government will have to think of imposing restrictions, state Health Minister, Rajesh Tope, said.

Tope further said that at present the positivity rate of Mumbai is 4 per cent and if it goes above 5 per cent, the state government will have to think of imposing restrictions.

He said that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will soon hold a meeting of the COVID-19 Task Force.

“Till now there are 167 Omicron cases in Maharashtra. Of these, 19 patients have been discharged. None of these patients was in serious condition. We have to think of imposing restrictions to control crowds in public transport and wedding ceremonies,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mumbai recorded 1,333 caseson Tuesday, a steep rise from 809 infections reported a day ago. This is the highest one-day surge in the city since May 26, when 1,352 cases were registered.

Mumbai also accounted for 63.3% of the state’s tally of 2,172 Covid cases on Tuesday. Of the 32,369 tests conducted in the city, 1,333 were positive, which pushed the positivity rate up to 4.11%. In the last 28 days, the daily Covid-19 tally has increased by 1,134% in the financial capital. Active cases have gone up from 1,904 to 5,803.
