India Records Most Daily COVID-19 Cases And Deaths For 3rd Day In A Row

Mumbai: For the third consecutive day, as many as 3,46,786 coronavirus cases and 2,624 coronavirus deaths have been reported in India in the last 24 hours.

With this India’s total Covid-19 tally reached 1,66,10481 on Saturday and the death tally to almost 1.9 lakh (1,89,544).

The Bulletin of the Union Ministry of Health has shown that in the last 24 hours about 2.19 lakh people have recovered from the disease, the recovery rate of the country has gone up to 83.92 per cent. The number of active COVID-19 cases in the country is more than 25 lakh, which is about 15 per cent of the total cases.

Maharashtra and Delhi remain the worst-affected states/UTs in India by the COVID-19 pandemic as they reported 773 and 348 deaths on Friday.

“The situation in India is a devastating reminder of what the virus can do,” the chief of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said as the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic wreaking havoc in the country. Addressing a virtual press conference in Geneva, he stated, “the situation in India is a devastating reminder of what the virus can do”.

Meanwhile, chairing a high-level meeting with chief ministers of 11 states and union territories with maximum COVID-19 cases, Modi urged states to work as one and coordinate with one another to fulfil medical requirements, asserting that “if we work as one nation, there will not be any scarcity of resources.”
