India Reports 23,285 New COVID-19 Cases, Active Cases Near 2L-Mark
Mumbai: According to data from the Union Health Ministry, 23,285 cases of coronavirus infection were reported in India in a single day updated on Friday, the highest in almost 78 days, with a total number of COVID-19 cases totalling 1,13,08,846.
The death toll rose to 1,58,306 with 117 daily new deaths, it was updated at 8 am.
On 24 December, 24,712 new infections occurred in 24 hours.
The data said that the number of people suffering from the disease has risen to 1,09,53,303, while the case rate is 1.40 per cent.
India’s COVID-19 Tally crossed the 20 lakh mark on 7 August, 30 lakh on 23 August, 40 lakh on 5 September and 50 lakh on 16 September. It crossed 60 lakhs on 28 September, crossed the 70 lakh mark on 11 October. It crossed 80 lakh on 29 October, 90 lakh on 20 November and 1 crore on 19 December.
According to the ICMR, 22,49,98,638 samples have been tested up to March 11 with 7,40,345 samples being tested on Thursday.
