Maharashtra: Night Curfew Imposed In Panvel Till March 22, Schools, Colleges Shut

Mumbai: After implementing the lockdown in Aurangabad and Kalyan Dombivali, the Maharashtra government imposed a night curfew in Panvel on Friday to prevent a coronavirus infection in the state.

The night curfew in Panvel has come into force from today and it will remain in force till 22 March.

In view of the increasing cases of COVID-19 in the state, the Uddhav Thackeray government announced a night curfew in Panvel from 12 to 22 March. The curfew will be imposed every night between 11 PM and 5 AM.

According to reports, schools, colleges and coaching classes have been closed. However, class 10 and class 12 will continue as the board examination is scheduled to begin in less than two months.

By 22 March, anyone planning a wedding ceremony in Panvel will have to seek permission from the police.

All types of sports competitions and tournaments have been banned until 22 March.

Essential commodities such as milk, vegetables, fruits, newspapers and establishments and persons providing essential services and their vehicles will be exempted from the travel ban.

According to official figures, 14,317 new coronavirus cases were reported in Maharashtra on Thursday, the largest one-day spike of the year, taking the state’s caseload to 22,66,374. There are 1,06,070 active cases in the state.

Meanwhile, the ministry said that the situation in Kerala is improving and informed that COVID-19 cases operating in the state have almost doubled in the last few days while cases in Maharashtra have doubled.
