India Reports 8,822 New COVID-19 Cases, Highest In 3 Months

Mumbai: India on Wednesday reported a new high in three months in the daily COVID-19 tally with 8,822 new cases in the last 24 hours, taking the overall count to 4,32,45,517.

The country recorded 6,594 fresh infections on Tuesday, which is almost 18 per cent less than Monday’s 8,084 COVID-19 cases. With these fresh cases today, the active caseload in India stands at 53,637, which is 0.12 per cent of the total caseload, the ministry said.

A total of 5,718 people have been cured of coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people cured to 4,26,67,088. The recovery rate in India is 98.66 per cent.

The daily positivity rate is 2 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate is 2.35 per cent. So far 85.58 crore COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the country, with 4,40,278 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, India’s vaccination under that nationwide COVID vaccination program has crossed the 1955 million dose mark. This has been achieved through 2,51,27,455 sessions.
