India Reports Highest Daily COVID Cases For 2nd Day In A Row In 2021 At 35,871

Mumbai: The Union Health Ministry said on Thursday that 35,871 new COVID-19 cases and 17,741 were seized in India in the last 24 hours.

With the addition of fresh cases, the total positive cases in the country reached 1,14,74,605, including 2,52,364 active cases and 1,10,63,025 recoveries.

There were 1,59,216 deaths in the last 24 hours, including 172. So far, 3,71,43,255 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been given in the country.

According to the India Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 23,03,13,163 samples have been tested for coronavirus as of Wednesday. 10,63,379 were tested yesterday.

A health official said that Maharashtra is the state most affected by the viral disease, which is watching the country’s progress, as 23,179 COVID-19 cases were reported on Wednesday, the highest single-day so far in 2021.

Last year, the state saw last year’s cases of 23,000 marks in the previous year. On September 11, 2020, the state registered 24,886 cases and on September 17, there were 24,619 infections.

This was the sixth-highest one-day spike of infection cases in the state since the pandemic began last year. As many as 30,254 new infections were recorded in a span of 24 hours on December 13.
