India Reports Less Than 2 Lakh Daily COVID-19 Cases For First Time Since April 15

Mumbai: Union Health Ministry informed on Tuesday that India has reported 1,96,427 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, making it the first time since April 15 when the country recorded less than two lakh daily COVID-19 cases.

India reported 3,511 deaths in the last 24 hours, the lowest in 22 days, with this the death toll surged to 3,07,231.

The cumulative caseload in India is now 2,69,48,874 comprising 25,86,782 active cases. The number of casualties increased to 3,07,231, while the number of recoveries increased to 2,40,54,861.

Karnataka, which recently overtook Maharashtra in a number of active infections, now has 4,40,435 active infections, with the state most affected by the pandemic. Maharashtra has 3,27,580 active cases.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 33,25,94,176 samples have been tested for COVID19 as of May 24. Of them, 20,58,112 samples were tested on Monday.

The Union Health Ministry informed that as many as 19,85,38,999 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered so far since the commencement of the vaccination drive on January 16.
