India Reports Less Than 40,000 New COVID-19 Cases After 102 Days As 37,566 Test +ve

India is the second country after the United States to record more than three crore Covid-19 cases, adding one crore cases in the past 50 days

Mumbai: According to the Ministry of health, India has reported 37,566 new COVID-19 cases and 907 deaths in the last 24 hours for the first time in 102 days, the lowest daily case count since March 18.

With this the country’s total caseload to 3,03,16,897. However, India’s active caseload has declined to 5,52,659.

As many as 907 people died in the past one day, taking the total death toll to 3,97,637.

India is the second country after the United States to record more than three crore Covid-19 cases, adding one crore cases in the past 50 days.

“Active cases are 1.82% of the total cases. With 56,994 patients getting cured in the last 24 hours, the total number of cured patients across the country now stands at 2,93,66,601. The number of daily recoveries exceeds the daily new cases for the 47th consecutive day. The ‘recovery rate’ has increased to 96.87%,” the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in an official statement on Tuesday.

India’s ‘weekly positivity rate’ also remains below 5%, and currently stands at 2.74%. The daily positivity rate now stands at 2.12%, down from 5% for 22 consecutive days.

Under the nationwide immunization drive, 32,90,29,510 vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far, including 52,76,457 in the last 24 hours.

A total of 40,81,39,287 swab samples have been tested across India till June 28, of which, 17,68,008 samples were tested on Monday, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said in a statement.
