India Reports Over 4,000 COVID-19 Deaths In 24 Hours For The First Time

Mumbai: India on Saturday reported over 4,000 coronavirus deaths in 24 hours for the first time as 4,187 people died of the virus. The coronavirus death toll in the country has now risen to 2,38,270

The country also logged a single-day rise of 4,01,078 COVID-19 infections, taking the tally of cases to 2,18,92,676, according to the Union Health Ministry’s latest data.

In the last 24 hours, the total number of recoveries increased to 1,79,30,960 with 3,18,609 patients discharged from hospitals, while the mortality rate was recorded at 1.09 per cent.

The country’s active caseload increased to 37,23,446, which was 17.01 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate decreased to 81.90 per cent, which was shown at 8 am.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 30,04,10,043 samples have been tested up to May 7 with 18,08,344 samples being tested on Friday.
