ISRO Plans Mission For Sun Aditya L1, After Successfull Launch Of Chandrayaan 2

Mumbai: In a recent development, ISRO has planned to launch its Solar Mission, Aditya-L1 in the first half of 2020 according to the space agency, to study the Corona of Sun. Aditya-L1 is for corona inspection, which is outer layers of the Sun, which extends thousands of kilometres.

This comes after the successfull launch of Chandrayaan 2 by ISRO on 22nd July.

“How the corona gets heated to such high temperatures is still an unanswered question in solar physics,” the ISRO stated on its website while sharing information about the mission.

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) K Sivan had said, “It is 1.5 million kilometres from the Earth. It will always look at the Sun and give an analysis of the corona because it has a major impact on climate change.” He said the mission is planned for launch in the first half of 2020.

Another Interplanetary Mission of Venus will be launched in the next 2-3 years, Sivan, who is also secretary of the Department of Space, said. With additional experiments, Aditya-L1 can provide an overview of sunlight, chromosphere and corona.
