It’s My 1st Ever Victory As Captain, I Dedicate It To My Wife: Jadeja On Win vs RCB

With this victory, Chennai Super Kings have opened their account in IPL 2022

Mumbai: Ravindra Jadeja registered his first win as captain as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 23 runs at DY Patil Sports Complex.

Chennai Super Kings started their IPL 2022 campaign with back to back 4 match losses whereas on Tuesday the defending champion registered their first victory of the season.

Riding on a 150+ stand between Robin Uthappa and Shivam Dubey, the defending champions bounced off the block on Tuesday, giving them 215 runs. The batting effort was put in by an equally brilliant spell from Mahesh Thekshana as Bangalore could manage only 193 runs.

Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Jadeja said, “First of all, this is my first win as captain. I will dedicate it to my wife. In the last four matches, we were not able to cross the boundary. Special shout out to Robbie and Shivam for the way they bat.”

After a great start to the campaign, the entire CSK contingent was under pressure. Jadeja’s leadership ability was fired after MS Dhoni took all the decisions inside the field.

As the noise grew, Ravindra Jadeja admitted that he had the full support of the owners and management.

He said: “Our bosses and management don’t put pressure on me. They motivate me. I pick the brains of senior players. Obviously, you have Mahi Bhai, I always go to him and discuss.”

It was a well-rounded victory with everyone contributing in some way or the other. The bowling unit went ahead with the task returning figures of 4/33. Jadeja also made a notable contribution, taking three wickets to overwhelm RCB by winning three consecutive games.

In just five matches as captain, the 33-year-old Indian all-rounder said that he is getting better with every passing game. It is a new learning experience for Ravindra Jadeja, who has rarely captained a game at the senior level, let alone a big stage like the IPL.

He continued, “You know, it takes time to get into the mould but I am learning and getting into the role every day.”

With this victory, Chennai Super Kings have opened their account in IPL 2022.
